OpenCode 2.0 shares one agent service across its interfaces
OpenCode 2.0 puts its terminal, browser and desktop interfaces on one background service. Its CodeMode lets agents chain MCP or OpenAPI tool calls inside JavaScript instead of requesting each step separately. Background agents and shell tasks can continue independently. This is a breaking upgrade: existing 1.0 plugins are incompatible, and integrations must adapt to a redesigned server API.
Anomaly
Why it matters
The change affects how developers integrate agents and move between interfaces.
More context
Try the major upgrade in a separate project after reviewing plugin dependencies. The announcement also introduces an embeddable SDK, explicitly still in development. An exact publication date was not visible on the original page.
Keep in mind
The SDK is unfinished, and migration requires more than replacing the executable.
