Claude Opus 5.5 lowers token prices and changes integration requirements

Anthropic has released Claude Opus 5.5 for coding, computer use and other agent work. Input and output token prices fall by 20% relative to Opus 5, while cached-input pricing falls further. The release also changes integration behavior: thinking cannot be switched off, and preserved-thinking restrictions apply to qualifying newer API accounts. Existing integrations need more than a model-name swap.

Why it matters

Worth evaluating if your agent relies on long conversations, cached context or custom reasoning-history handling.

More context

Try claude-opus-5-5 through supported Claude Platform access or the listed cloud providers. Check the preserved-thinking documentation, particularly for API accounts created on or after August 31. Compare representative tasks at your intended effort level.

Keep in mind

Anthropic’s performance and typical-workload cost claims are vendor measurements. Actual spend depends on tokens and settings; 1min has not benchmarked this release or verified every provider’s rollout.
