TensorRT tunes whole inference engines against an accuracy boundary
TensorRT’s Global Performance Tuner explores alternative compiler build routes, measures complete inference engines and rejects routes that crash or fail an accuracy check. NVIDIA’s new explanation emphasizes why the fastest isolated kernel need not produce the fastest complete engine. The feature is available in TensorRT 11.1 through builder APIs and trtexec; its usefulness depends on representative inputs, reference outputs and a suitable accuracy threshold.

Why it matters
Optimization needs an explicit definition of acceptable output before speed can select the winner.
More context
Try a bounded tuning sweep on compatible NVIDIA hardware with the default route as your baseline. Start with a small search space and evaluate complete-engine latency. The documented tuning cache can resume interrupted sweeps.
Keep in mind
Passing a narrow validation set does not prove general accuracy. Good routes depend on model shapes, GPU and software versions; broader searches also consume more build time.
