Rust will keep 32-bit Windows targets but stop shipping their host compilers
Rust 1.100 will stop distributing compiler tools that run on 32-bit x86 Windows. Developers will still be able to build applications for those targets by cross-compiling from a supported host, and prebuilt standard libraries remain available. The MSVC target retains Tier 1 testing; this change concerns the development host rather than removing all 32-bit Windows output.

Why it matters
Teams with older Windows build machines need to adjust their build environment rather than abandon their target binaries.
More context
Prepare by testing a 64-bit Windows build host that produces your existing i686 artifacts. Review both MSVC and GNU target requirements before the announced 1.100 transition.
Keep in mind
This is an announced upcoming change, not a claim that Rust 1.99 already removed the tools. Other 32-bit platforms are unaffected, and 1min has not tested cross-compilation for your application.
