Copper explores a procedural alternative to C
Copper is Marc Kerbiquet’s procedural language project intended as a replacement for C. It combines static types, basic type inference, generics and imports without header files. Its type inheritance can distinguish an age from an ordinary integer while allowing use where the underlying integer type is expected. This is an existing language to explore, with no verified launch date.

Why it matters
Language learners can compare a concrete type-system design with conventions they usually enforce manually in C.
More context
The download page offers version 11.1 source archives and a Windows 64-bit LLVM-backend binary. Read the overview and try a small example before considering integration. The project uses a BSD license; its pages were updated in June 2026, which is not a release announcement date.
Keep in mind
The available compiler is evidence of an implemented project, not established production adoption or a support commitment. No exact publication date or broad platform compatibility was verified.
