Deno joins Cloudflare and sets runtime and hosting transition timelines

The Deno team is joining Cloudflare and redirecting development toward a shared Workers and Durable Objects platform. Deno’s runtime will receive monthly bug fixes and security updates for another year before the team ends its development. Deno Deploy will operate for six more months before shutting down, with migration support for paying customers moving to Workers.

Why it matters

Teams running Deno applications now have concrete support and hosting timelines to include in their planning.

More context

Inventory runtime dependencies and hosted services before choosing a migration path. JSR will continue operating on Cloudflare infrastructure, and support for rusty_v8 continues. The teams plan to combine workerd and celld to simplify running distributed applications on Cloudflare or independently.

Keep in mind

The runtime remains open source, so the announcement does not mean existing programs immediately stop working. The proposed shared platform is a development direction, not evidence that every Deno application can move without compatibility work.
