eMudhra plans certificate replacements as it exits public TLS issuance

eMudhra says its board has decided to exit the global SSL/TLS certificate business. It plans to contact customers about free replacement certificates through a partner, while its G1 RSA roots continue serving customers during the transition. Certificate-status and revocation services will continue until issued certificates expire or are replaced. The announcement follows its recent security incident; it does not describe an immediate shutdown of every certificate.

Why it matters

Certificate replacement is now an operational migration task, beyond tracking the original incident.

More context

Inventory affected certificates and their renewal paths, then follow the issuer’s customer transition instructions. eMudhra says other signing and enterprise PKI businesses are outside this withdrawal. It has also committed to completing remaining root-program incident reporting.

Keep in mind

The issuer has not supplied a universal transition completion date here. Its statements about incident containment remain company claims, rather than independent verification.
