GPUDirect Storage gets a diagnostic CLI with an optional agent layer
NVIDIA’s gds-diag checks whether a Linux system is configured for GPUDirect Storage, which moves data between storage and GPU memory. It can audit configuration, inspect containers and diagnose specific mount points, then produce explained findings and JSON reports. The command-line tool does not apply fixes itself; an optional coding-agent skill can interpret findings and propose or perform remediation under the assistant’s permissions.

Why it matters
GPU storage troubleshooting benefits from reproducible checks that remain usable independently of an AI assistant.
More context
The October 30 guide requires Linux and Python 3.8 or newer for the diagnostic script, distributed in NVIDIA’s Magnum IO repository. GDS itself has additional GPU and CUDA requirements. Start with a configuration audit and review findings before any proposed system change.
Keep in mind
A diagnostic pass is not an application-throughput benchmark. The agent layer introduces model judgment and possible system changes; the deterministic CLI and an agent-driven remediation should not be treated as the same operation.
