Pele renders Mermaid diagrams with CSS-controlled colors
Pele turns Mermaid diagram text into SVG using its own layout engine. Colors can follow CSS variables without rendering the diagram again, and a width setting can adapt a wide flowchart to a narrow container. The library targets documentation and note-taking interfaces. Its syntax support does not imply identical output: node positions, spacing and some configuration behavior differ from Mermaid’s renderer.

Why it matters
Diagrams embedded in documentation need to fit the page and remain readable when the interface theme changes.
More context
The MIT-licensed library is documented as an npm package with a rendering API. Try representative diagrams before replacing a renderer. Its security guide describes escaped labels, filtered URL schemes and size limits, while leaving trusted icon markup and navigation policy to the host application.
Keep in mind
An exact launch date was not established. Project speed comparisons were not independently reproduced. External Mermaid plugins are unsupported, and displayed images can still make network requests.
