Workers KV Instant trades costly writes for fast global configuration reads

Workers KV Instant uses Cloudflare’s Quicksilver system to push small configuration datasets to its global locations, avoiding cold reads and cache-expiry waits. It retains much of the Workers KV API, but targets infrequently changed flags and settings. The tradeoff is substantial: reads are cheaper, while storage and writes cost much more than classic KV.

Why it matters

Configuration workloads need different storage economics from general application data.

More context

Watch the private beta or apply with a small configuration use case. Published pricing is $100 per MB monthly and $0.10 per write, delete or list operation; namespaces are limited to 1 MB and one write per second.

Keep in mind

Private beta access is required. Metadata is unsupported, and published latency figures are Cloudflare’s measurements, not 1min tests. Faster propagation is not a claim of globally synchronous writes.
