An e-ink bird frame turns local audio into a living field guide
Fugleramme listens for birds through BirdNET-Go, matches detected species to curated natural-history illustrations, and displays the result on an e-ink frame or a web kiosk. Classification runs locally; the artwork comes from historical plates rather than generated pictures. The display redraws when the detected birds change, making a small edge-computing project feel like an ambient object.

Why it matters
A hands-on example of local inference, Go services and a deliberately simple physical interface.
More context
The reference setup uses a Raspberry Pi 5, microphone and Inky Impression display. An existing BirdNET-Go service can supply detections over the network, and web-only mode lets you explore the interface without buying a panel. This is a project discovered recently, not a verified new release.
Keep in mind
The repository warns of early-development rough edges. Illustration coverage is strongest in parts of Europe; local species and classifier accuracy need checking. No hardware test was performed.
