Pion opens long-running business agents as a research preview
Andon Labs is opening Pion, the persistent-agent platform behind its experiments with AI-run shops and other businesses. Agents can access tools such as email, phone, browsers and computing environments across long-running tasks. The research goal is to study real-world capabilities and failure modes that short evaluations or simulations can miss. Access is through a research-preview waitlist.

Why it matters
An agent launch focused on persistence, real-world tool use and operational evaluation.
More context
The platform grew out of Vending-Bench and later real-business experiments. Andon argues that simulated performance is an incomplete guide to deployment behavior. Watch the research and monitoring methods; the announcement is not evidence that arbitrary companies can safely operate without supervision.
Keep in mind
The authors report their store and cafe were not profitable at publication. Claims about autonomous business operation remain research claims; 1min has not tested the platform.
