Cloudflare reports 68% cheaper AI code reviews after cutting wasted work
Cloudflare reports reducing its average AI code-review cost from $2.43 to $0.77 and median duration from 4 minutes 9 seconds to 1 minute 32 seconds. It separated reusable prompt prefixes from repository-specific context, removed unusable tools and unnecessary turns, and changed models and reasoning effort. These are results from its own evolving workload; the combined savings were not measured in a controlled experiment.

Why it matters
Token counts, repeated context and unnecessary tool calls can matter more than a model’s advertised price per token.
More context
The team made the beginning of prompts identical across repositories so cached work could be reused. It also checked review quality through subsequent author edits and model judgments. Try measuring cache writes, reads, output and calls separately before changing a review workflow.
Keep in mind
Fewer reported findings do not establish that fewer bugs were missed. Author edits and model judges are imperfect quality measures, and these savings are not a general benchmark.
