Go 1.27 lets concrete methods declare their own type parameters
Go 1.27 adds generic concrete methods, letting an operation on a type introduce its own type parameters. A collection can now expose a mapping method that produces a different element type, rather than requiring a package-level helper. This makes some APIs easier to organize and chain, while generic interface methods remain unsupported.

Why it matters
Useful for library authors who previously moved transformations into standalone functions because methods could not express them.
More context
This August explanation is catch-up reading. Use Go 1.27 to try the examples, then compare the method form with an existing generic helper. The article explains why separately compiled packages make arbitrary generic interface dispatch difficult.
Keep in mind
An instantiated generic method does not make its receiver satisfy a matching ordinary interface method. This is an API design option, not a reason to rewrite every helper.
