BackupDrill tests whether a Supabase backup actually restores

BackupDrill copies Supabase PostgreSQL backups into an S3-compatible bucket you control, then offers a separate restore drill in a temporary PostgreSQL container. The drill checks archive checksums, table presence, restored indexes and constraints, and whether previously nonempty tables remain nonempty. It records restore time too. These checks provide stronger evidence than a successful upload, while stopping short of proving the whole application recovers correctly.

Why it matters

A backup job and a recovery test answer different operational questions.

More context

Try the MIT-licensed CLI against a disposable project first. It requires Node.js 20 or newer, a compatible pg_dump, database access and bucket credentials; container-based drills also need a container runtime. The default database scope is the public schema. Storage files require separate configuration.

Keep in mind

Table presence and nonempty checks do not prove row equality or business correctness. Protect backup credentials and verify that every required schema and file store is included.
