Go’s SIMD experiment expands to Arm64 and WebAssembly

Go’s experimental SIMD API now covers Arm64 and WebAssembly alongside AMD64. The archsimd package exposes vector operations through Go types and methods, reducing the need to write assembly for architecture-specific work. It deliberately gives different names to instructions whose edge cases differ, while letting the compiler combine some method sequences into a single machine instruction.

Why it matters

Performance-sensitive Go code can explore vector operations while making hardware-specific behavior explicit.

More context

Try a small measured hot loop with Go 1.27 and GOEXPERIMENT=simd. Compare against ordinary Go and retain a suitable fallback for your deployment targets; the article explains slice loads, masks and vector conversions.

Keep in mind

The API is experimental and has changed since Go 1.26. Current support is for fixed-width vectors; matrix extensions are not supported. 1min has not compiled or benchmarked the examples.
