pg_ivm 1.16 fixes failures while maintaining materialized views
pg_ivm keeps materialized views current by applying changes when underlying tables change, instead of recomputing the whole result. Version 1.16 adds PostgreSQL 19 support and fixes several maintenance failures, including a crash when a view is maintained and dropped in one transaction. It also fixes unnecessary lock errors caused by lock-release timing during commit.

Why it matters
Teams using immediately maintained views should check whether these fixes address intermittent transaction failures.
More context
Try the released extension in staging using its source installation instructions. Exercise updates and view lifecycle operations used by your application before rollout. PostgreSQL 19 compatibility does not itself mean PostgreSQL 19 is generally released.
Keep in mind
Immediate maintenance moves work into writes; suitability depends on query support and workload. This is an extension release, not a built-in PostgreSQL feature. 1min has not measured its overhead or reproduced the fixed crashes.
