TypeScript 7.1 Beta brings embedded file formats into the compiler
TypeScript 7.1 Beta introduces content mappers: plugins that turn files such as Vue components into virtual TypeScript and map diagnostics back to the original text. This gives framework tooling a shared integration point for editor support and command-line checking. Mappers execute external code, so command-line use requires explicit permission; editors require workspace trust and mapper approval. Framework integrations are at different stages of development.

Why it matters
Framework authors can connect embedded JavaScript and TypeScript to compiler services without maintaining separate editor and build integrations.
More context
The beta is available through the typescript@beta npm package. Mappers are registered by extension in tsconfig.json and require --runExternalCode at the command line. Try an isolated framework project first. The announcement’s @vue/content-mapper example is illustrative and is explicitly not available on npm.
Keep in mind
This is a beta. Its new checks for distributive conditional types and updated DOM declarations can introduce errors in existing projects; confirm framework support before upgrading.
