tsrs offers an experimental Rust implementation of TypeScript checking

Cloudflare and VoidZero are collaborating on tsrs, a Rust port intended to preserve TypeScript’s language behavior while reducing checking time and memory use. An experimental npm package is available, with stable conformance still a goal. The team also sees Rust’s WebAssembly support as a way to fit complete toolchains into constrained environments. This is an alternative implementation, not a proposal to redesign TypeScript.

Why it matters

A compiler replacement needs agreement on diagnostics and emitted behavior as well as attractive performance measurements.

More context

Try the package on a representative project alongside the official compiler, comparing diagnostics and output. A browser playground is available. The repository documents compatibility gaps and distinguishes source-only fast-mode settings from published-package capabilities.

Keep in mind

The advertised speed and memory gains are early vendor benchmarks against named TypeScript versions and configurations. Diagnostic ordering and other remaining differences can affect existing tooling.
